For flares that arrive on their own schedule, and a day planned around where the nearest bathroom is.

An individual medical review. An informed decision.

How stem cell therapy may help with ulcerative colitis

In ulcerative colitis the immune system turns on the lining of the colon. The result is chronic inflammation, ulceration and a cycle of flare and remission that medication suppresses but rarely settles. Conventional care controls the symptoms. It does not address the immune activity underneath them.

Concerns to discuss with your care team

Flares without warning

Pain, urgency and bleeding that return however carefully you follow the plan.

Cramping and abdominal pain

A gut that is never quite quiet, and meals chosen for what they might cost you later.

Urgency that rules the day

Routes, restaurants and travel decided by bathroom access, not by what you wanted to do.

The fatigue of constant inflammation

Tiredness that has nothing to do with sleep, and the energy you no longer have for other people.

Who may be a candidate

Adults with diagnosed ulcerative colitis whose control or quality of life remains limited under conventional care may be evaluated. Candidacy is decided by our physicians after a medical review of your history, recent blood work, colonoscopy findings and current treatment, never by a form.

Treatment is not offered where there is active infection, certain cancers, or other conditions identified in review.

Questions

Asked before, answered plainly.

Will I be able to stop my medication?

We do not promise that. Your existing treatment is reviewed as part of your medical evaluation, and any change is a decision for you and your physicians together. Treatment is studied for its effect on inflammation, not as a replacement for your care.

How is the treatment given?

Usually by intravenous delivery, so the cells circulate to the inflamed bowel. The route is decided by our physicians after reviewing your case, in a single visit to our licensed clinic in San José.

Can I be treated during a flare?

Timing is part of the medical review. Your physicians will advise whether to treat now or wait for a calmer period.

When might I notice a change?

Responses vary. Some patients report changes within weeks; others over several months. We follow up with you on a set schedule after treatment.

Who is not a candidate?

Active infection, certain cancers, and some other conditions rule treatment out. Your medical review determines candidacy, not this page.
