Liver Cirrhosis

For a liver that has been scarring quietly for years, and results that keep drifting the wrong way.

An individual medical review. An informed decision.

How stem cell therapy may help with liver cirrhosis

Cirrhosis is the scarring left by years of liver injury, whether from fatty liver disease, alcohol, viral hepatitis or another cause. Scar tissue replaces working liver, and function declines. Conventional care slows the damage and manages its consequences. It does not address the inflammation that keeps the scarring going.

Concerns to discuss with your care team

Exhaustion that has no cause you can name

A tiredness out of proportion to anything you did, and days that end before they start.

Swelling, nausea and lost appetite

Fluid in the abdomen or legs, meals you cannot face, and weight that shifts for the wrong reasons.

Results that keep slipping

Liver enzymes and other markers reviewed at every appointment, and a trend nobody likes.

A future being narrowed

Conversations about staging and waiting lists, and the things you would rather still be doing.

Who may be a candidate

Adults with diagnosed cirrhosis or chronic liver disease whose function or quality of life remains limited under conventional care may be evaluated. Candidacy is decided by our physicians after a medical review of your history, recent blood work, imaging and current treatment, never by a form.

Treatment is not offered where there is advanced liver disease that makes travel unsafe, active infection, certain cancers, or other conditions identified in review. Where a transplant team should be involved, we say so.

What to expect

1. Evaluation

A call with a patient advisor, then a medical review of your records, recent blood work and liver imaging.

2. Treatment plan

Protocol, schedule and the full investment, written for your case and discussed with you before you travel.

3. Treatment in San José

Travel and stay arranged for you. Treatment by our physicians in our Ministry of Health–licensed clinic.

4. Follow-up care

Scheduled check-ins with our team after you return home.

Investment

Each plan is built for one patient. In your consultation we walk through the full investment and exactly what it includes: cells, clinical care, and the arrangements around your stay.

Questions

Asked before, answered plainly.

Is this an alternative to a liver transplant?

No. Where transplant assessment is indicated, it should go ahead, and this treatment is not a substitute for it. Our physicians will tell you plainly if they believe your case belongs with a transplant team.

Will I be able to stop my medication?

We do not promise that. Any change to your medication is a decision for you and your physicians together. Treatment is studied for its effect on inflammation and liver function, not as a replacement for your care.

How is the treatment given?

Usually by intravenous delivery, so the cells reach the liver through the circulation. The route is decided by our physicians after reviewing your case, in a single visit to our licensed clinic in San José.

When might I notice a change?

Responses vary. Some patients report changes within weeks; others over several months. We follow up with you on a set schedule after treatment.

Who is not a candidate?

Advanced liver disease where travel is not advisable, active infection, certain cancers, and some other conditions rule treatment out. Your medical review determines candidacy, not this page.
