Stem cell treatment · Medical review required

COPD & Lung Conditions

For lungs that have been working harder every year, and the breath that no longer comes easily.

An individual medical review. An informed decision.

How stem cell therapy may help with COPD

COPD, which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis, damages the airways and the small air sacs where oxygen crosses into the blood. Inhalers, oxygen and pulmonary rehabilitation open the airways and make the most of the lung that remains. They do not address the inflammation that keeps the damage going.

Concerns to discuss with your care team

Breathlessness

Short of breath on the stairs, on a walk, or while talking and dressing.

Persistent cough and mucus

The morning cough that has become an all-day one.

Flares and infections

Chest infections that take longer to clear each time.

A life measured in breaths

Distances judged, invitations declined, and the oxygen tank in the corner of every plan.

Who may be a candidate

Adults with diagnosed COPD, emphysema, chronic bronchitis or another chronic lung condition that has stabilised under conventional care, but whose breathing or quality of life remains limited, may be evaluated. Candidacy is decided by our physicians after a medical review of your history, recent pulmonary function tests and imaging, and fitness to travel, never by a form.

Treatment is not offered where lung disease is too advanced for safe travel, or where there is an active chest infection or flare, unstable cardiac conditions, certain cancers, or other conditions identified in review.

Questions

Asked before, answered plainly.

Does this replace my pulmonologist's care?

No. It sits alongside it. Your inhalers, oxygen if you use it, your pulmonologist and your respiratory care continue, and our physicians review your case with that care in mind.

How is the treatment given?

Usually by intravenous delivery, in a single visit to our licensed clinic in San José. The route is decided by our physicians after reviewing your case.

Is it safe for me to fly and travel?

That is one of the first questions your medical review answers. Your lung function and any oxygen you use both matter. Where travel is not advisable, we will tell you so.

When might I notice a change?

Responses vary. Some patients report changes within weeks; others over several months. We follow up with you on a set schedule after treatment.

Who is not a candidate?

Lung disease too advanced for safe travel, an active chest infection or flare, unstable cardiac conditions, certain cancers and some other conditions rule treatment out. Your medical review determines candidacy, not this page.
