Traumatic Brain Injury

For the symptoms that stayed after the injury healed on the outside, and the care that has run out of next steps.

An individual medical review. An informed decision.

How stem cell therapy may help after traumatic brain injury

A blow to the head, a fall, repeated impacts over years, or a period without oxygen can leave the brain changed long after scans are read as stable. Rehabilitation teaches the brain to work around what was lost. Medication eases headaches, sleep and mood. Neither addresses the inflammation that can persist in the injured tissue.

Concerns to discuss with your care team

Brain fog and slowed thinking

Losing the thread of a conversation, or a task that used to take minutes now taking an afternoon.

Persistent headaches

Headaches that outlasted the injury and the medication meant to end them.

Memory and concentration

Names, appointments and the place you left things, slipping more than they should.

Mood, sleep and sensitivity

Irritability, low mood, broken sleep, and a world that is suddenly too bright and too loud.

Who may be a candidate

Adults with a documented brain injury, from a single event or repeated impacts, whose symptoms persist under conventional care and whose condition is stable, may be evaluated. Candidacy is decided by our physicians after a medical review of your history, imaging and current treatment, never by a form. We encourage a family member to join the consultation.

Treatment is not offered in the acute phase of an injury, or where there is active infection, certain cancers, or other conditions identified in review. Where we do not believe treatment is appropriate, we will say so.

What to expect

1. Evaluation

A call with a patient advisor, then a medical review of your records, imaging and current treatment.

Protocol, schedule and the full investment, written for your case and discussed with you before you travel.

3. Treatment in San José

Travel and stay arranged for you. Treatment by our physicians in our Ministry of Health–licensed clinic.

4. Follow-up care

Scheduled check-ins with our team after you return home, and a report for your own physicians.

Investment

Each plan is built for one patient. In your consultation we walk through the full investment and exactly what it includes: cells, clinical care, and the arrangements around your stay.

Questions

Asked before, answered plainly.

Is this a cure for brain injury?

No. Stem cell treatment is studied for its effect on inflammation and the environment around injured nerve cells. It does not undo the injury, and we will not tell you otherwise.

How soon after an injury can I be evaluated?

Not in the acute phase. Emergency and rehabilitation care come first. We evaluate patients whose injury has been fully assessed and whose condition is stable, usually months or years later.

How is the treatment given?

Usually by intravenous delivery. In some cases our physicians may recommend an additional route. That decision is made after your medical review.

When might I notice a change?

Responses vary. Some patients report changes within weeks; others over several months. We follow up with you on a set schedule after treatment.

Who is not a candidate?

A recent or still-evolving injury, active infection, certain cancers, and some other conditions rule treatment out. Your medical review determines candidacy, not this page.
