How stem cell therapy may help with knee pain
Knee cartilage has almost no blood supply, which is why a knee that has been hurt struggles to repair itself. Inflammation lingers, tissue quality declines, and pain becomes part of the day. Conventional care manages that pain. It does not change the environment inside the joint.
- Mesenchymal stem cells are studied for their ability to reduce chronic inflammation in the knee.
- Research examines how cell signalling may affect inflammation and the tissue environment. Evidence and clinical outcomes vary by application.
- Treatment is delivered directly into the knee, where it is needed.
- Cells are prepared in our own laboratory and used fresh, never frozen.
- The protocol is written for your knee, your imaging and your goals.
Concerns to discuss with your care team
Pain that has outlasted the injury
Discomfort that persists despite rest, medication or physical therapy.
Swelling and stiffness
A knee that feels tight or warm, and takes time to loosen each morning.
Instability or giving way
The moment of doubt on a step, a slope or an uneven pavement.
The activities you have set aside
Running, hiking, tennis, gardening, the grandchildren’s games.
Who may be a candidate
Adults with chronic knee pain or a knee injury that has not resolved with physical therapy, medication or injections may be evaluated. This includes early osteoarthritis, old sports injuries and post-injury degeneration confirmed by imaging. Candidacy is decided by our physicians after a medical review of your history and imaging, never by a form.
Treatment is not offered where there is active infection, certain cancers, or other conditions identified in review.
